Dear Families of 3rd-6th Graders in Fullerton School District. We are excited to announce the third WOW Challenge (World of Wisdom Literacy Challenge), a unique initiative aimed at fostering a love for reading in our students. For those students who did the first year, this will be new challenges with a new storyline.
Reading is a vital skill that not only enhances academic performance but also opens doors to new worlds, ideas, and perspectives. To support your child in this journey, we encourage you to engage with them in nightly reading and ask them to share with you their literacy tasks.
In this challenge, our students from 3rd to 6th grade will embark on an adventure through the realms of the World of Wisdom, harnessing the strengths of the guardians, students will engage in nightly reading, complete literacy tasks, and collect trading cards. Each week, they can earn points per trading card extension challenge, culminating in a final challenge that allows them to earn extra points and complete their journey.
Our Fullerton community plays a crucial role in this endeavor. Students' quests will contribute to a school’s and classroom’s overall points with individual prizes as well. The points contribute to the election of one of the guardians to govern the realms.
Please note, this World of Wisdom Literacy Challenge will take place from the week of October 13th - December 12th 2025. For more information, feel free to reach out to your school TLMA, Principal, or Emily McDougall, Director of Educational Services. Let's unite in this literacy adventure and make reading an exciting and rewarding experience for our children!
Choose Your Own Literacy Adventure
In this challenge, our students from 3rd to 6th grade will make their way across the land to bolster their community by restoring balance to the land of Fullertonia. Your student will select a singular Guardian to play as that matches your students own interests. Each Guardian pulls on the strength of their realm to ignite their unique Maker Ability - which allows them to build out a flourishing society when used together. Guardians not only have Maker Abilities, but also a Non-Fiction interest as well as a genre interest. Each week, your student can earn points and Ability stickers to add to their Player Postcard to help defeat monsters of callousness called the Adamancers. Please note, this World of Wisdom Literacy Challenge will take place from the week of October 13th - December 12th 2025. For more information, feel free to reach out to your school TLMA, Principal, or Cindy Hye Lee, TOSA in Ed. Services. Let's unite in this literacy adventure and make reading an exciting and rewarding experience for our children!
